Cowan Lake State Park Campground

Boating and swimming make Cowan Lake State Park Campground an ideal summer escape. Don’t expect small and cozy. Located about one hour northeast of downtown Cincinnati near Wilmington, Ohio, Cowan Lake State Park covers just over one thousand acres including the lake.

The beach and boat ramp are right in the same area as the campground, and there’s plenty of parking to leave a boat trailer while enjoying the weekend on the lake. Cowan Lake State Park Campground is located at N 39° 23′ 0.26″, W 83° 54′ 0.05″.

A few of the 237 electric sites at Cowan Lake State Park Campground are shaded, but the majority of sites do not benefit from shade trees. RV’s, travel trailers and campers of all types and sizes will have no problems driving through the campground and finding relatively level and paved camp sites. There’s even 27 cottages that can be rented for any friends wanting to join in the experience.




The campground at Cowan Lake State Park has a shower house and flush toilets in several locations. There are also laundry facilities in the campground. The sites do not have water or sewer connections, but potable water and a dump station are available in the campground.

State park naturalists offer various programs regularly throughout the summer and on a few scattered occasions the remainder of the year. Volleyball and basketball courts also provide another activity option.




Even pets are welcome at select camp sites and cottages. There is a small store in the middle of the campground that offers a few snacks and limited other items. In a pinch, a variety of stores are available within 20 minutes.
