Progress

The tigers and alpacas have been fun side adventures, but the purpose for this two-week journey is volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to inject a boost of progress into a couple houses. It is absolutely amazing to see the transformation that occurred after just one week.

Our focus has been on two houses, one was basically just a foundation and the other had walls and trusses so it was basically just an outline of a house last week. Working alongside the local volunteers and partner families who will occupy the homes, the floor joists have now been installed on the foundation, and roof sheathing, paper and windows installed on the other, as well as substantial progress on siding. Lots of other little projects to support the building process have also been completed.

There is a high quality standard for the houses being built, and there is constant training, education and guidance for the volunteers. The goal is not only to meet building codes, but to produce a quality home that will last a very long time. There are no short cuts in process or materials.
